The few brands of kale crisps I’ve tried so far have just been satisfactory. That is, until the one I’m about to tell you about. In my opinion, they’re the best kale crisps on the market right now.
There is a lot of hype around kale for good reason. It promotes healthy skin, hair, and bones. Kale also supports healthy digestion, and if eaten it regularly, it can reduce risk of heart disease.
Kale is highly nutritious since it is rich in vitamin A, C, K and minerals like copper, iron, manganese and phosphorus. A cup of kale has only 8kcal yet it provides 24mg of calcium, 79mg of potassium and 17mg of folate (important for pregnant ladies). It is indeed a superfood!
Kale crisps may not be as nutritious as the raw, steamed or blanched vegetable but that doesn’t stop them being yummy, lol! I prefer not to mention the other brands of kale crisps that I found mediocre so I’ll just go straight into telling you about the one I absolutely adore.
Simply 7 make the best kale crisps
Sure the heading has given the brand alway already, but never mind…haha! I tried this brand for the first time when the ladies at Vegan Tuck Box kindly gave me their October subscription box to review. My little ones and I finished the sharing pack in one sitting, so I knew the chips were a winner!
Simply 7 is an American brand located in Houston, Texas. They make a range of healthy chips including kale, hummus, quinoa, and lentil. Most of their crisps come in a variety of flavours ranging from sea salt, chilli, and barbecue to roasted red pepper, jalepeno and many more. All varieties of their chips are free from artificial colours and flavours, gluten, trans fats, and preservatives, but they are not all vegan so be careful!
Their kale crisps come in sea salt, dill pickle and lemon & olive oil flavour. I got to try the lemon & olive oil flavour.
“All of our Kale Chip flavours are designed to pack the fresh flavour and great benefits of kale in a tasty ridged chip. Our Lemon & Olive Oil Kale Chips highlight kale’s soft flavour with a hint of crisp citrus.
With the light tang of fresh lemon and warm notes of olive oil, you’ll think you picked them fresh from the garden. With nearly 80% of your daily Vitamin K and a simply delicious crunch, get the kale taste you love in a better-for-you, on-the-go snack.”
I don’t think I need to add anymore to the description of these crisps, they are really that good. They’re practically a potato crisp covered in kale powder. But the added potato really gives the chips a delicious crunch that makes them moreish! I actually ordered another bag of these crips from Vegan Tuck Box, and secretly ate the whole bag myself (I’m not ashamed, lol)! I limited myself to only one bag because I knew I would have to eat them all in one go.
